The New Old Job

I disappeared again!

This time I was working at

the Park Avenue Armory

Supervising wardrobe for

Shen Wei Dance Arts

Shen Wei helped to coreograph the

opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics

and has won a MacArthur Foundation Grant.

I didn't really plan to abandon you,

but

I worked 140 hours

in the last 11 days.

I got the job through a friend from Chautauqua

...Internships are totally worth it, y'all.

You just have to pick the right one.

The Old New Job

 

That new job I was telling you about?

I was a dresser at the Public Theater-

I would go in early to make sure the clothes are clean

shoes are polished

shirts are pressed.

Then make sure the actors put their clothes on

(which is surprisingly difficult),

Then follow the actors around backstage helping with

quick changes,

Then laundry,

Then go home & do it again the next day.

I averaged about 55 hours a week

And I loved it.

Who knew I could get somebody

to pay me

to do something I like?

The show had ended now,

but hopefully other doors will open next.

and 4 Pulitzer Prizes.

They're kind of a big deal.
