Tap Dancing a Gesture Drawing

Getting to watch the tapdancers backstage was exhilarating.

I love tapdancing, and to be so close

to so many talented people

and to (get paid to) watch them every night

did nothing to diminish my respect

for their craft.

Unfortunately, tap dancers are much more difficult

to draw than Shakespearian actors

or even Modern Dancers.

Soon I'll tell you

about my new job

which I love.

But for now, this is my 

other job,

the hated cater waiter rat race.

I feel that this is how they

would prefer to see us.

Lots of white jackets

robots

performing our function perfectly.

There's never a reward for doing well,

only early dismissal for carrying

two plates instead of three,

and sexist racist ageist ignorant

schmucks who never seem

to get the hint

that I don't want to talk to them

while I'm trying to read my book

on my break.

Yes, a new job will

suit me just fine.
